Basics [Should-know things]

How to get into BIOS - Basic Input/Output System

Getting into BIOS is very simple.

1. Turn ON/Restart your computer and keep pressing the Delete or F2(depends from your system)key immediately when it's about to start(after the beep sound). You may hear another beep signal when it's getting into BIOS or keep pressing the Delete or F2 key until the BIOS shows up.

Booting from CD - How to

This will explain how do you boot from a CD. This is a 'have to know' if you're going to format/reinstall your Windows or something similar .

1. Place the CD into your CD/DVD-ROM.

2. Get into BIOS.

3. Once into BIOS, navigate to the BOOT tab.
Example

In this case as you can see my hard disk drive is set to boot up first(hitachi hts5450...). In order to boot from CD you have to set your CD/DVD ROM(in this example it's set on the second place- HL-DT-ST DVDRAM...)on the top/boot option #1.

Keep in mind that BIOSes differ from each other which means your bios may not look the same as the one shown on the image above! But that doesn't matter if you know what are you going to do, all BIOSes must have the boot priorities/options(the tab may not be named as 'boot' as the image above). The hardware devices may not be named the same as the image above(Hitachi hts5450 and HL-DT-ST DVDRAM). It's best to explore your BIOS first, just make sure you don't change any other option.

4. Once your CD/DVD rom is set on the first place/priority, navigate to SAVE&EXIT tab.

Select Save Changes and hit enter, then select yes.(This tab should look quite similar)

5. The computer should restart and read from your CD/DVD ROM. Eg. If you have the Windows 7 CD in your CD/DVD ROM, a text will appear like the image below.

So this is it, press any key to boot from the CD.

---

(If it doesn't boot from your CD and boots the windows instead then get into bios once again and disable your HDD - Hard disk drive)

Booting from USB Flash Drive(bootable) - How to

Similar like booting from CD, except you should place the USB on the first boot option/priority instead of the CD/DVD Drive.

1. Plugin your bootable USB. [how to]

2. Get into BIOS.

3. Select your USB Drive as your first/primaty option/priority.

4. Save and exit your settings.

---

If your USB isn't shown on the boot menu, please note that the system(BIOS) sometimes detects your USB as a Hard Disk drive.
So navigate to the hard disk drive(s) options and select your USB or disable the hard disk and select the USB instead.

How to get into Safe mode

Similar like getting into BIOS.

1. Turn ON/Restart your computer, when it boots up(before the windows logo appears) keep pressing the F8 or F5(depends from yout system)key until the black menu appears.
